Breckenridge Music Festival – Winter Series

The Breckenridge Music Festival Winter Series soon has its opening concert for the 2012-2013 season and we have all the details, so keep reading!

The Breckenridge Music Festival, in partnership with Summit Music and Arts at Lord of the Mountains, is going to present “From Bach to the Beatles” starting at 4:00 pm. at Lord of the Mountains Church, 56 Hwy 6, Dillon, Colorado, just a little north of Breckenridge.

The concert will include the incomparable sacred music of J. S. Bach to music of the Beatles, and some exceptional choral composers in between.

The performance will be under the direction of Dr. Linda Shea, Director of Instrumental Music of the Summit High School music department, and will feature keyboardist Leonard Rhodes on organ, piano and harpsichord.

Beyond this performance, winter evening performances offer a broad variety of chamber music presented in intimate venues around Summit County.

Concerts include favorite pieces from the heart of chamber ensemble literature, as well as music by lesser-known composers, combinations of musical styles, instrumentalists, vocalists and ensembles large and small.

Most of the artists participating in the Winter Series come to Breckenridge not just to play music, but to share their knowledge and love of music with school children of the region in workshops and masterclasses for the Music In The School program sponsored by Breckenridge Music Festival and The Summit Foundation.

Classical orchestral repertoire is the heart of the Breckenridge Music Festival with four centuries of musical genius from Baroque to the music of our own century, performed by our orchestra in residence each summer. Chamber music in intimate settings, jazz and blues, Country & Western, and many other musical styles add in to the mix.

Set in the historic mining town turned skiers’ village, summer and winter the Breckenridge Music Festival brings great music to the residents and visitors of Summit County.
