MASSIVE SUPERPIPE OPEN: Freeway Terrain Park -  APRIL 9, 2010

A festival of Massive proportions calls for an equally Massive Superpipe Competition with a Massive cash purse. Don’t miss world-class riders and local amateurs competing in Colorado’s top rated Superpipe. As if the 18-foot walls weren’t enough to keep you gasping for air, the tricks that these skiers and riders have up their sleeves are sure to blow you away.

Skiers and boarders are invited to rally on the rails for a good cause at Breck. There will be prize money on the line for each rail, as well as giveaways and music. After party to follow!

MASSIVE STYLE & AIR OPEN: Freeway Terrain Park - APRIL 10, 2010

Spring Massive Festival has stepped it up another notch with a Massive addition! With the huge response in its first year in 2009, the Massive Style and Air on the legendary Freeway Terrain Park jump line has found a home in the Massive schedule. Nope, this is not a traditional slopestyle competition–your eyes need to be in the air at all times as skiers and riders go big off perfectly cut jumps and features to match. In this fresh spin on an old favorite, judges are looking for gnarly style and Massive air in order to take home this event’s prize purse.

MASSIVE SLOPESTYLE IN PARK LANE -  APRIL 11, 2010:

This one is staying in the weekends lineup! Skiers and riders throw down in this progressive freestyle competition in Park Lane Terrain Park! A Massive cash purse is on the line with each rider being judged on overall style, technical difficulty and creativity. Whether competing or watching, the Massive Slopestyle should not to be missed!

This year’s Spring Massive Festival is right around the corner! The festival will feature Bite of Breckenridge, a Massive Beer Festival, free outdoor concerts and more. Its the perfect mix of spring skiing, family fun and competitions. Once we have more details we’ll be sure to update you!

A special shout out and congrats to our hometown Breckenridge Olympian Katie Uhleander, who will be competing in the 2010 Skeleton race!

Altitude Fine Art Photography Gallary will be exhibiting local Colorado Photographer, Tim Brown, starting Saturday, February 13th.

Tim Brown has traveled extensively both internationally and domestically assembling an array of beautiful images for his portfolio. He has completed work for major publications including National Geographic and Bicycling Magazine.

And the winner is Lithuania which built a textured sculpture of a gloved hand holding up the “V” sign symbolizing the fragility and temporary nature of victory …every day is a fight entitled, “Milite Est Vita” (Left). Bringing in the silver is Team Canada, “Memories from my Youth” (Center), an elaborate sculpture of the face of a Japanese princess from one side and a scene depicting her memories of a banzai garden, pagoda and bridge over a brook from the other side. Team Mexico comes in 3rd with “The Altar of Quetzalcoatl” (Right), a detailed sculpture that represents Quetzalcoatl, the god of life and dead in the Mexican culture, which included the symbol of the sun in his daily rebirth.

Hopefully next year our hometown team Breck will bring home the bacon! It was a wonderful competition again this year and as always we look forward to what’s in store for 2011. The snow sculptures will stay on display at the Riverwalk Center through the end of the week.

The 18th annual Budweiser International Snow Sculpture Championships will conclude tomorrow and a winner will be announced. Represented this year were 12 teams from 6 countries- Canada, China, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Mexico and the United States, including 2 local Colorado teams from Breckenridge and Loveland.

The Awards Ceremony will begin Sunday January, 31st at 3:30pm and the sculptures will be on display through February 7th. For complete  event details please click here.
