Kid's Zone - Baldy Mountain Retreat

andrew : December 10, 2009 7:21 am : Blog

Remember the kids’ table at Thanksgiving? It was usually wedged in somewhere cramped and inconvenient like the worst table in a restaurant, buffeted by wind from the swinging kitchen door, or worse, the faint aroma of a nearby bathroom. Meanwhile, the adults luxuriated in cushioned, high-backed chairs clinking crystal glasses. At the wobbly table in the corner, kids wondered wistfully when they’d be big enough to enjoy the finer things. Well, the tables, so to speak, have turned, and the kids get the last laugh in the Mount Baldy Retreat Kid Zone, a private space packed with all the best and reserved for kids only.

As plush as any adult room and twice as fun, the Kid Zone features pool and foosball as well as board and video games for the competitive types. Laid back kids who prefer lower impact entertainment get a genuine built in movie projector complete with movies and a big screen while the nascent socialite in the group can play host at the soft drink bar. When it’s time for lights out, the puzzle piece-shaped couches convert to double beds so the entertainment hot spot transforms into cushy sleeping for four.

Master Bathroom - Baldy Mountain Retreat

admin : December 9, 2009 7:59 pm : Blog

The first floor master suite is one among many jewels at Baldy Mountain Retreat. As you enter from the adjoining bedroom you’ll first notice the soft lighting, separate tub and shower and fine appointments. Marble counter tops envelop his and hers sinks and offer plenty of room to display all your lotions, potions and perfumes. There is plenty of storage underneath, and the provided towels are always clean, soft and fresh. You can also leave the hair dryer and flat iron at home as both are included among the beautiful bathroom’s many amenities.

A closer look at the bathtub reveals an extra-wide expanse with four Jacuzzi jets. Relax with candle light and soothing bubbles as you gaze out the window at the snow covered mountain outside, or take a book and a glass of wine in to enjoy a warm and healing end to an active winter day. If you’re pressed for time and need to get ready quickly, you can pop into the roomy stand up shower. Towel off and pull a special outfit from the walk-in closet located right there in the bathroom, and you’re ready for evening cocktails downstairs in the great room.

Living Room - Warrior's Retreat

andrew : December 4, 2009 11:38 am : Blog

Food, wine and fun effortlessly coexist in this wide open floor plan. Snacks in the kitchen are just arm’s reach from the cozy conversation pit in the living room, and the adjacent dining room with seating for 10 makes gathering all 21 sleepers together in one place not only possible, but easy. The split level offers just enough division of space to make each area its own without closing off the free flow between them. Windows accent the kitchen, dining room and living room offering breathtaking views all around. A vacation rental this versatile is a rare and beautiful find.

Relaxing in the pit offers plenty of idle distractions. The big-screen TV competes with the stunning view of the slopes outside the windows, and the double glass doors grant easy access to the wrap around deck outside. The versatile space is perfect for a hearty group breakfast, afternoon relaxation with the game on TV or wine and hors d’oeuvres as the sun sets across the hills outside. But fear not, workaholics. The office loft is just a half-staircase away, so you can slip out quietly to check for that fax you’ve been waiting on.

Living Room - Timber Creek Retreat

andrew : December 1, 2009 5:44 pm : Blog

Comfortable gathering areas are the heart of a vacation rental of this size, and Timber Creek offers a living room that is formal without losing its rustic, mountain cabin charm. Plush leather seating is accented by rich, dark wood and soft lamplight. While the great room is perfect for evening gatherings over brandy by the fire, the living room is an airy, open space with vaulted ceilings and expansive views of the blue spruce pines on the mountain. It’s perfect for coffee after brunch as the sun glints off the ripples of the lake just outside the window wall.

The vaulted ceiling and stunning view at sunset also make the living room an ideal choice for cocktail hour. The lake slowly turns from blue to gold in the fading light, and the stars come out by the millions over the mountain top. And when evening takes hold and the temperature drops, the large fireplace offers a cozy accent to the party. Entertaining your adult guests while the kids are at play is a snap as the kid zone is way up on the third floor giving everyone, young and old, a chance to relax and be themselves.
